Outlook stores all its data on a single file, called Outlook.pst. This file can be very large depending upon the usage. Due to the size of this file the OS saves the file in fragments. Data loss is quite a possibility with this tool.
PST Crop Utility is mainly used to reduce the size of the PST files that have crossed the 2GB size limit. The tool deletes the data in the file randomly, without giving the opportunity to select which files could be deleted. Thankfully, starting from the 2003 version the 2 GB size limit has been changed to a default 20 GB reconfigurable size limit. So in case your Outlook version is 2003 or above, then don’t even bother to use this tool.
